Before you cross the ocean to satisfy your craving for English fish and chips, try downtown Historic Hollister’s River Stone Restaurant. Once a hunting and fishing destination in the early 1900’s this quaint European destination on Downing Street is now home to Ye Olde English Inn, the Black Horse Pub and the River Stone Restaurant. All feature an English Tudor style with décor designed to tell of the building’s rich century-old history.
The River Stone is located inside Ye Olde English Inn. Its walls feature plaster molds of real fish caught when the building was constructed in 1909. A fireplace nestled into the stone walls creates a cozy yet rustic atmosphere.
Now back to those fish and chips. Once settled into this English oasis, settle back and enjoy two light cod fillets with herb infused beer batter served on a bed of Cavender’s seasoned chips (or French fries for you Americans). The sweet yet zesty coleslaw is a bold and welcome accompaniment to the dish.
Those not in the mood for an English experience will welcome American dishes, appetizers and a kids menu for the little ones.
River Stone Restaurant is available to cater special events. In addition, event packages are available in conjunction with Ye Olde English Inn and the Black Horse Pub. The pub features a wide selection of beers and spirits as well as a full menu.
River Stone Restaurant is just a mile from Highway 65 near downtown Branson.
